Leopold Benedict is an actor-director based between London and Normandy. He earned special distinction for best spoken French at Cambridge University and received a scholarship to act at the Conservatoire National in Paris. Leopold holds an MA from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London (RADA).

For the stage, he has adapted Jean-Paul Sartre’s ‘Les Mains Sales’; co-directed ‘Wald’ for the Teater Lindenhof; and created the queer piece in mask & mime: ‘Conversations with Myself’. In studio for screen, he has assisted prominent directors such as Armando Iannucci (Avenue 5), Robert Eggers
(Nosferatu), Bridget Christie & Mackenzie Crooks (The Change), and David Lowery (Peter Pan). This year, he made his own bilingual short film: ‘Do you really have to go?’
As an actor, he specialises in Shakespeare – having played in eight of the plays. In 2023, he performed 140 times as Romeo in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ on a World Tour. This year, he appears in Call the Midwife (BBC One); and on London stages, has appeared in leading roles in adaptations of ‘Don Juan’, & ‘Love’s Labour’s Lost.’
